About Conference

Transformation of Learning Resource Centres (LRC) is inevitable in today’s digital era. The collections, organizations, maintenance, preservations and delivery services of LRCs have gone into tremendous changes, due to the advancement of digital technology. This process has opened up various avenues for the Library Professionals to update themselves to provide desktop services to the end users. Today’s Library is not limited with printed collections, card catalogue, issue & return of physical books, etc. but it widens the wings to various new manifestations. Today’s library has a quiet space for research analysis, social space for interaction and knowledge exchange, space for innovation, chat room and many more to keep its users engaged. In recent days’ people not only want to develop new skills and learn how to use the modern technology but also to share their experience with others. Libraries are paying attention to the needs of the users and try to accommodate to this need. Today’s libraries reach a much broader range of age groups and social backgrounds compared to other types of cultural activities. Consequently, the library represents something different for each one of us. It can be a peaceful place for insightful work for professionals, a playground for families or even an information point for those with limited resources. All these transformations happened due to the advancement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Every aspect of human life is affected by ICT. The applications of ICT in libraries have brought the revolutionary changes in the entire concept of library operations, services and management. Today, the modern libraries are equipped with Digital Databases, Audio & Video Discs, eBooks, e-Journals etc. Hence libraries have been transformed from traditional libraries to hybrid libraries having print, electronic and online resources. This three-day National Conference will be a great platform for the Students, Research Scholars and working Professionals to discuss and deliberate the transformation and its impact in Learning Resource Centres.
