Welcome to SALIS - 2022...
It is a prestigious moment when the Department of Library, K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode and the Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science (SALIS), join hands once again to host a 3 day National Conference on “Transformation of Learning Resource Centres in the Digital Era” from 13th to 15th October, 2022 at the Institution’s premises.
The organizing team extends a cordial welcome to the target participants of the conference-LIS professionals, IT Professionals, Knowledge Workers, Information Specialists, Technology Firms, Knowledge Managers, Content Managers, e-Publishing Houses, Students, Research Scholars and Faculty members from educational institutions. Their associations with the library and the type of information resources they access from the libraries keep changing from better to best. Their quest for information in the digital era has sharpened the dimension of the library. It is no longer the custodian of the print, e-resources and digital resources alone; it has emerged with a multi-faceted personality. It acts as a resource centre for multimedia library information kiosks, walk-through programmes, training, digital libraries, multimedia databases, multimedia catalogues, multimedia library collections, geographical information systems, electronic publishing, knowledge transfer center on upcoming research and a lot more nuances are being identified by the ever-growing user network on a daily basis. This transition and transformation stage has made it imperative for the library professionals and library users to take stock of the development through research and communicating the growth to the community at large.
The objective and the conference theme are tailored to meet these emerging ground realities. It is also an effort to identify the opportunities and challenges in re-shaping the library eco-system to successful new models.
It is hoped that this humble attempt will lead us to new bench marks in the library’s role.
We wish the guests, speakers and all the participants all the very best...
